Service Delivery

St. Leonard’s Society of Peterborough provides residential and community services to federally sentenced men aged 18 and over.

Description

The philosophy of Edmison House is to demonstrate to each resident that the community cares and is concerned about his release. We understand that reintegration can be difficult and do our best to assist our residents in every aspect of their release.

Edmison House

The St. Leonard’s Society of Peterborough operates Edmison House, a federal halfway home for men. Edmison House opened in January of 1977. We have specialized in the area of working with Lifers and have a rich history of developing work skills training programs. There is a total of twenty-four beds and one Unescorted Temporary Absence (UTA) cot.

The St. Leonard’s Society of Peterborough also owns and operates several supportive housing initiatives including a five-bedroom rooming house, run as a supportive independent living program for graduates of Edmison House. The Society also has a stock of one bedroom apartments including a sixplex and a fourplex both located in the core area of the city.

Community Involvement

The most notable contribution to our community was the establishment of the blue box recycling program for the City of Peterborough. This program was established in 1984 and was operated as a work skills training program until 2000 when the City of Peterborough tendered the contract for service.

Edmison House has a history of working with Fleming College students to assist them in developing a thorough understanding of the Criminal Justice System and the implications on society. As well, the agency is regularly involved in charitable fundraising activities.
